Mohammad (Md.) Maksimul Islam is currently pursuing his PhD in the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) of North Carolina State University, USA. He completed MSc and BSc from the Department of Civil Engineering, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. He has been doing research in air quality sector with a view to ameliorating the extant degraded air pollution scenario worldwide. He has been serving as a reviewer for several prestigious journals including Energy for Sustainable Development and PLOS ONE. Apart from academic and research works, Maksim likes to travel, play cricket and read story books.

Professional Work at National and International Levels

  • Involved as a consultant in various projects such as Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of national four lane highway and fiber cable network, Fire and Structural Safety Assessment of garments buildings (supported by International Labor Organization, ILO) and Detailed Engineering Assessment (DEA) of vulnerable buildings.
  • Routinely involved in laboratory and field testing services through the Bureau of Research, Testing and Consultation (BRTC), BUET. Testing services include different routine and conventional laboratory tests for concrete, aggregates, steel reinforcement, water, bricks etc. and field or in-situ tests like air quality monitoring (SPM, PM10, PM2.5, SOX, NOX, CO etc.), noise level monitoring, core test, hammer test, calibration of machines etc. since 2012.
