Dr. Mehedi Ahmed Ansary

Specialization: Geotechnical-Earthquake Engineering

Prof. Ansary is the founder Director of BUET-JIDPUS (Japan Institute of Disaster Prevention and Urban Safety) Institute at BUET. Dr. Ansary is also the founder Secretary General of Bangladesh Earthquake Society. Prof. Ansary is a Director of World Seismic Safety Initiative (WSSI) which is a prestigious international body founded by International Association of Earthquake Engineering IAEE) for earthquake risk reduction of the developing countries. Prof. Ansary is also a member of the Technical Advisory Committee on Disaster Management of the Government of Bangladesh.

 

He has a joint patent “A PROCESS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF WRAP-FACED EMBANKMENT ON SOFT CLAY”, which was accepted on 03-09-2023 and numbered as Bangladesh patent serial no. 1006783.

 

Prof. Ansary’s number of publication in International Journal and Proceedings is more than 300. Under guidance of Prof. Ansary, 65 students have obtained their MSc and 6 students have obtained their PhDs in Australia, Bangladesh and Japan.

Prof. Ansary worked as consultant for JICA, UNDP, UNOPS, WB, for numerous GoB agencies.

Prof. Ansary is also involved as a Panel of Expert (Chairman/Member) of the following agencies:
