Professional Work at National and International Levels
Consultancy & Professional Contributions (BRTC, BUET):
Actively engaged in consultancy, advisory, and research activities through the Bureau of Research, Testing and Consultancy (BRTC), BUET since 1996. Served as a BUET Consultant in numerous large-scale civil engineering projects, contributing significantly to design review, supervision, and technical reporting.
Selected Key Contributions:
- Supervisory consultancy for the turnkey construction and implementation of a Common Tannery Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP), including STP, SWMS, and SPGS systems.
- Design vetting of CETP systems, including collection and conveyance systems, Chrome Recovery Unit, Solid Waste Dumping Yard, and Central Laboratory.
- Structural assessment and retrofitting of multiple RMG (Ready-Made Garment) buildings to improve safety and load capacity.
- Design verification and retrofit supervision of an 18-story commercial building with two basements for Grameen Telecom Trust, Mirpur.
- Design and development of the Karnaphuli Container Terminal (KCT) on a 250-acre site at Chittagong Port.
- Land development of a 200-acre reclaimed site for the API Industrial Estate, including design and supervision of infrastructure facilities.
- Design and development of a 4-lane approach road to Payra Sea Port, including embankments and bridges.
- Member of the Supervisory Consulting Team (BRTC, BUET) overseeing implementation of the KCT Project (executed by 34-ECB, Bangladesh Army).
- Provided consultancy services, technical reporting, and follow-up top supervision on remedial works for “Settlement issues of Retaining Wall cum Boundary Wall (Section 1) of Dasherkandi Sewerage Treatment Plant, Aftabnagar, Dhaka” (WASA Project, 2022; implemented by a Chinese contractor).
Additional Ongoing Consultancy Engagements:
- Serving as a geotechnical consultant for the Bangladesh Navy project titled “Technical Support Service for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC), including installation and commissioning of a complete Ship Docking and Repair Facility at BNS Mongla” (ongoing since 2020).
- Serving as a representative member of BRTC, BUET (Dept. of Civil Engineering) in the BIWTA project titled “Consultancy Services for Design Review and Top Supervision of Jetties and Infrastructure Construction Works at Mirsarai & Sandwip (Chittagong), Sabrang & Jaliar Dwip (Teknaf), and Sonadia Dwip (Cox’s Bazar)” (ongoing since January 2020).
Experience in EPC / Turnkey Consultancy Projects:
- Served as Team Leader in supervisory consultancy for the construction of the Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) at Tannery Industrial Estate, Savar, implemented under an EPC contract; also involved in design vetting.
- Involved in design checking and construction supervision of the Bangladesh Navy Submarine Base at Pekua, Cox’s Bazar.
- Conducted engineering and contractual evaluation of the failed Padma River Crossing Gas Pipeline (HDD) turnkey project under GTCL, identifying causes of failure following two unsuccessful execution attempts by Drilltec Ltd. (Germany) and Maxwell Ltd.
Major National & International Projects:
Contributed as a member of design teams, design verification teams, and supervisory consulting teams in several high-value infrastructure projects:
- Technical expert representing Bangladesh (GTCL) in an international arbitration (ICT) regarding Padma River HDD gas pipeline construction (2016–2018); proceedings concluded in 2017.
- Feasibility study of the Gulshan–Baridhara Lake Development Project integrating urban transport networks (2017–2020).
- Design and supervision of Payra Port 4-lane Approach Road (2015–2017).
- Ongoing involvement in the Payra Port Development Project (since 2020).
- Contribution to the Bangladesh Navy Submarine Base Project (BNSUB) (since 2018).
- Feasibility study of the Dhaka–Cox’s Bazar Expressway (2018–2020).
- Design and supervision of API Industrial Park, Gozaria (2008–2020).
- Design vetting and supervision of 13 Buffer Godown projects (BCIC) across Bangladesh (2019–2021).
