A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between BUET and Yokohama National University (YNU), Japan has been signed today for academic exchange and research collaboration. On the occasion of signing the MoU, a seminar was organized in the Dept. of Civil Engineering, BUET on higher studies and research in the Yokohama National University (YNU), Japan.
Lectures were delivered by Japanese visitors from YNU Prof. Dr. Akira Hosoda, Dr. Hiroshi Tamura, Ms. Yu Arima and Dr. Arifa Iffat Zerin. Topics of lectures included a brief introduction of YNU international programs (master and doctor) in Civil Engineering and research in the field of concrete and steel structure engineering. The seminar was presided over by Prof. Dr. Ahsanul Kabir, Head, Dept. of Civil Engineering and was coordinated by Prof. Dr. Khan Mahmud Amanat and Dr. Rupak Mutsuddy. After the seminar, the visitors were honored with crests. Bangladesh Steel Re-rolling Mills (BSRM) Ltd. sponsored hospitality for the seminar attendees. Before the seminar, the visitors had lunch with the other faculty members of the department. They also visited the different laboratories of Civil Engineering Dept. and expressed their enthusiasm in establishing joint research collaboration in future.
